At BR7, referees play a key role in the smooth running of matches. And to ensure that our referees are able to perform in the best possible conditions, for the past two editions they have been equipped with the AXIWI\u00ae<\/strong> wireless communication system, supplied by our partner Axitour Communication Systems<\/strong>. <\/p>\n

But what does a field referee think of this technology? To find out, we put a few questions to one of our referees<\/b>, a rugby enthusiast and tournament regular. Here, he shares his real-life experience with AXIWI\u00ae, both on and off the pitch. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

1. How many editions have you been using the AXIWI\u00ae System at BR7?<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tI’ve been using AXIWI\u00ae at BR7 for two editions now. I tested it for the first time in 2023, and to be honest, I was convinced right from the start. This year, we used it again with the whole refereeing team, and it’s become a real reflex. I can’t see myself refereeing a tournament of this intensity without it. \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

2. How does AXIWI\u00ae change communication between referees?<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tWhat really changes is the fluidity. Before, we often had to wave to each other, wait for a break in play to speak to each other, or run to our colleague to confirm a decision. Now, we talk in real time, discreetly and without wasting time. That’s invaluable, especially in 7-a-side rugby where everything happens so quickly. \n\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

3. Is there a situation where AXIWI\u00ae really saved your ass in the field?<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Yes, once again this year, in a very close match in the women’s draw, a borderline forwards call escaped me live on air. It was my colleague on the sidelines who saw it, and he was able to tell me immediately in the earpiece. We were able to make the right decision without interrupting the rhythm. Without AXIWI\u00ae, we’d probably have missed it. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

4. Does the tool allow you to concentrate more on the game?<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Clearly. As I’m less focused on the signals or movements of my colleagues, I can concentrate fully on reading the game, the positioning and the atmosphere of the match. It also reduces mental fatigue. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

5. If you had to sum up AXIWI\u00ae in one word or phrase?<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

A word? No, too complicated… but a phrase, I’d say: “Effortless communication, at the service of the game.” <\/p>\n

It’s discreet, effective, and makes all the difference in tournaments like BR7.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
